Agreement to these terms
These terms of use ("Terms") apply to your use of placecalculator.com and all calculators, guides and other content on it (together, the "Service"), operated by Place Calculator ("we", "us" or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Results are estimates only
Our calculators give estimates based on the measurements you enter and on general assumptions, such as typical material densities, settling, compaction, waste allowances and standard bag sizes. Real quantities depend on many things we cannot see, including the exact shape of your site, the product you buy, its moisture content and how it is installed.
No professional advice
The Service does not provide engineering, construction, legal, financial or other professional advice. Projects such as retaining walls, drainage, excavation and work near utilities can affect safety, property and neighbours, and may be subject to building codes, permits and local rules. For these projects, consult a qualified professional and your local authority before starting work. Always call your local utility locating service before you dig.
No warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, or that any errors will be corrected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Place Calculator and its owners, contributors and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, materials or time, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes, without limitation, the cost of ordering too much or too little material, delivery and return charges, project delays and damage to property.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Place Calculator and its owners and contributors from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

Feedback and submissions
If you send us suggestions, corrections or ideas, for example for a new calculator, you give us a free, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use them for any purpose without paying you or crediting you. Please do not send confidential information through our contact form.
Third-party links and content
The Service may link to third-party websites, such as university extension guides or supplier pages. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, products or privacy practices.
Changes to the Service
We may change, update, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including calculators, formulas and default values, without notice and without liability to you.

Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Place Calculator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
